Stage Business

|

Last night as I was leaving I heard the deep sensual moan of a cello on stage. I peeked in and it was Principal Cello Daniel Lee tuning up for some summer practice.

This afternoon I checked in on the stage again and saw this array of freshly painted risers. I thought they had a kind of art-installation feel to them. Maybe.

One of the trunks the stage hands take on tour, as they will to Carnegie next spring, was open and I found this catalogue of what it takes to make the music happen written across the supply drawers:

office supplies, pencils, bug spray, sewing kit, wind clips

batteries, wood shims, stool feet, stand lights, tie wraps

water, towels, Kleenex, cough drops, glasses

signage, markers, trash bags

all kinds of tape

electrical supplies

wheels, chair feet, ext. cords, misc. cable

If you’re ever planning a weekend outing with an orchestra, you now know what you’ll need.
