Shock of the New

|

Stage Manager Mike Lynch said, “Hey, Eddie. Come over and take a look.”

And there before him, with one guy making adjustments to it and a couple other guys standing around it, was our new podium. It’s pretty sweet. The old podium, ca. 1970s, was on its side, forlorn, stage left. I proposed we put it into a vitrine in the foyer, kind of like a moon rock. Think of the great conductors, and the not-so-great, who pranced on that podium.

But all things must pass. You will see new musician chairs onstage this season as well. They’re black. Not red. Prepare yourselves. I see a red chair, and I want to paint it black.
