Keep in Mind

|

The following is from a list of reminders provided to members of the Saint Louis Symphony Chorus before taking the stage for Berlioz’s Eight Scenes from Faust:

KEEP IN MIND… AVOID TAPPING FEET AND COLOGNE/PERFUME as a consideration to your fellow singers…. many thanks.

This makes me think of two things:

1) When Linda Ronstadt sang Pirates of Penzance way back when, she said the hardest thing to accomplish in the crossover from rock & roll to operetta was to keep her foot from tapping

2) Just imagine trying to hit a high C after you have breathed in a big cloud of Eau de Bois, or some such fragrance
