I get a little uneasy when I arrive at the hall on the first day of August and see a man with a blowtorch outside the back door.
Not to worry. You may recall that last summer I arrived to find a big hole outside the back door one morning. The surfacing over what had been the coal chute way back when gave way, so we passed gingerly around the yellow caution tape for a few days until good-enough-for-this-year’s-budget repairs were made.
Over the last few weeks of July a crew as been making the for-good repairs to the surface and infrastructure near the back door, which included, this morning, a man with a blowtorch.
I’ll be more at ease, though, when I see Warren Goldberg arriving with his double bass again.
