A Holiday Without Harp Is No Holiday at All

Last week during my hiatus I ran into Principal Harp Frances Tietov at a local bookstore.

I said foolishly, "You aren't playing Messiah?"

"There's no harp in Messiah," Frances replied in mock exasperation. "But I'll be back next week. There's plenty of harp in the Holiday Concerts."

And so I heard Wednesday afternoon: those wonderful harp transitions that seem to be essential to Christmas tunes.
