Saint Louis Symphony Chorus

Saint Louis Symphony Chorus

The Saint Louis Symphony Chorus, under the direction of Amy Kaiser, is an indispensable part of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra. Founded in 1976 by then music director Jerzy Semkow and its first director, Thomas Peck, the chorus quickly became one of the finest orchestral choruses in the country.  Chorus members come from all walks of life and all parts of the St. Louis region. With 130 singers, the chorus performs on orchestral subscription concerts, holiday concerts and SLSO Presents. The chorus rehearses on Tuesday nights and auditions are held periodically throughout the season.

Reviews of Messiah
St. Louis Post Dispatch, Sarah Bryan Miller, December 12, 2009
"Amy Kaiser's chorus, a somewhat smaller group than usual, was in top form, navigating their long runs cleanly, nailing virtually every entrance with spot-on attacks and never flagging at the top of the range."

St. Louis Classical Music Examiner, Bill Townsend, December 12, 2009
"Amy Kaiser's Saint Louis Symphony Chorus must be heard by anyone who enjoys choral music. They blend spectacularly, with diction that is crystal clear, a habit other choruses would do well to emulate. Their "Hallelujah" chorus still resounds in the concert hall of the mind. "
