In 2001, the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra established its Endowment Trust Fund, a separate nonprofit organization managed by a board comprised of area business professionals–the first St. Louis arts organization to do so. The fund is invested with only 5% drawn for use by the Symphony each year. While the annual fund supports day-to-day operations, the endowment safeguards the Orchestra's long-term financial health.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of this community, the SLSO endowment has grown from $18 million in 2001 to nearly $140 million over the past six years. Despite tremendous progress, we have not yet reached an endowment total required to sustain a world-class orchestra. A sufficient endowment will generate reliable and permanent income, ensuring that beautiful music will continue playing at Powell Symphony Hall for generations to come.
