SAINT LOUIS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA ANNOUNCES
FIVE NEW MEMBERS OF ITS BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Ned O. Lemkemeier Steps in as Chairman of the Board


            (ST.LOUIS)  February 8, 2008 – The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra (SLSO) announced at its Annual Meeting on January 30, 2008, the election of the following five new members of their Board of Trustees:  William Carey, President and Chief Investment Officer, Courtland Associates, Inc.; Carolyn Farrell, Community Volunteer; David Hoffmann. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, DHR International; Marjorie Ivey, Community Volunteer; and Susan Veidt, Executive Vice President and Senior Partner, Regional Director, Fleishman-Hillard, Inc.  Having served their term limits, Mabel Purkerson, Professor Emeritus of Medicine, Washington University School of Medicine, was elected to serve as an Honorary Trustee and Harvey Harris, Chair and Managing Partner, The Stolar Partnership and Owner/Partner - Fox Associates, LLC, will serve on the Board of Overseers.

      Ned O. Lemkemeier, Partner, Bryan Cave LLP, has become Chairman of the SLSO Board of Trustees.  Lemkemeier, who had served as the SLSO Board's Chair-Elect, replaces former Chair, Cynthia J. Brinkley, whose promotion within AT&T causes her to relocate to San Antonio.  Lemkemeier has served on the SLSO Executive, Audit & Finance and Music Director Committees.  SLSO Chief Financial Officer and Interim Executive Director, Jim Garrone, said "We are extremely grateful to Cindy for her tireless work on behalf of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra.  Ned's varied experience on our Board Committees makes him the ideal choice to serve as our new Chairman."

      SLSO's new Executive Director, Fred Bronstein, said, "The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra has a solid, highly committed Board of Trustees and these new members truly enhance this organization.  I am looking forward to working with them, Ned Lemkemeier and all our Trustees as we move forward."

     The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra (SLSO) has been a source of pride for the St. Louis region since its founding in 1880.  The SLSO has earned a reputation as a first-tier orchestra through generations of excellent performances, its mastery of a wide-ranging repertoire, and a tradition of partnering with leading musical artists from around the world. Led by innovative American-born conductor David Robertson, the Orchestra continues to strive for artistic excellence, fiscal responsibility and community connection.
 

     In addition to its regular concert performances at Powell Symphony Hall, the SLSO is an integral part of the St. Louis community, presenting more than 250 free education and community partnership programs each year.
