ST. LOUIS, July 28, 2005 – The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra
announced today Scott Andrews has been named Principal Clarinet
and Daniel Lee has been named Principal Cello for the
126-year-old Orchestra. With today’s announcement the Orchestra
has now filled all of the ten open positions since last season.
Andrews joins the SLSO from the Boston Symphony Orchestra where
he has spent the past nine years as second clarinet. His
orchestral experience includes the Gardner Chamber Orchestra
from 1991 -1995, New England Chamber Orchestra from 1992-1996
and the Boston Pops Esplanade in spring 1995. Andrews was a
guest musician with the SLSO in 2001 and served as Guest
Principal in 2004. He received his musical education from the
New England Conservatory in 1993 and is a faculty member for the
Boston Conservatory and Tanglewood Music Center.
Lee joins the Orchestra from the San Diego Symphony where he is
Principal Cello. He joined the San Diego Symphony in 2004 after
eight years with the Symphony Orchestra at the Curtis Institute
of Music in Philadelphia. Lee made his professional orchestral
debut in 1990 with the Northwest Chamber Orchestra. He has won
acclaim as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including the
Philadelphia Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony
Orchestra, Seattle Symphony Orchestra and the New York Chamber
Orchestra. He received his artistic diploma from New England
Conservatory.
Both musicians will join the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra for
the 2005-06 season, which begins on September 23 under the
direction of David Robertson.
The SLSO currently has five openings: Associate Concertmaster
and Section Second Violin with auditions in the Fall and
Assistant Principal Flute, English Horn and Trombone with Spring
auditions.
