For Immediate Release SINGLE CONCERT TICKETS GO ON SALE AUGUST 22 INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS HIGHLIGHT DAVID ROBERTSON’S FIRST SEASON AS THE ORCHESTRA’S MUSIC DIRECTOR St. Louis, August 17, 2005 – Single concert tickets for the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra’s 126th season will go on sale August 22 at 9:00 am. The season debuts on September 23 when David Robertson officially begins his tenure as the Orchestra’s 12th Music Director. Robertson, the inspiring and charismatic American-born conductor, has received international acclaim for his ability to motivate audiences with his innovative programs. The season highlights include an opening night appearance by soprano Dawn Upshaw and the Saint Louis Symphony Chorus; a special event concert, City Lights, featuring Charlie Chaplin’s silent classic with musical score performed live on December 30 & 31; and Mozart’s Requiem with soprano Christine Brewer on Feb. 3, 4 & 5, 2006. Guest conductors set to join the Grammy-winning SLSO include Roberto Abbado, David Amado, Michael Christie, Asher Fisch, Philippe Jordan, Nicholas McGegan and Peter Oundjian.
