UBS MAKES COMMITMENT TO SYMPHONY’S EDUCATION Big Brothers–Big Sisters And Youth In Need ST. LOUIS, October 23, 2006 – The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra (SLSO) announced today a new educational partnership with UBS, the official financial services firm of the SLSO. Under the agreement, UBS will donate $10,000, which is earmarked to support the Symphony’s Kinder Konzerts and the new Family Concerts this season. The new donation is part of an ongoing relationship with UBS, which also sponsors a series of SLSO classical subscription concerts. The SLSO’s Kinder Konzerts are designed for school children from grades K to 3 and have been ongoing since 1966. More than 34,000 children visit Powell Symphony Hall each season to enjoy the Symphony’s education concerts. UBS’ support will provide transportation and tickets for 400 or more children, who would normally not be able to attend these concerts. Family Concerts are new this season and are designed for children 3-12 years-old and their parents or caregivers. The Family concerts are presented on four select Sundays throughout the year. UBS’ support will directly make available 500 tickets to the Big Brothers-Big Sisters organization, and will be used by the organization’s mentors and children. In addition, the UBS donation will provide 500 Family Concert tickets to the Youth in Need organization to support families they service. “At UBS, we are proud to support the efforts of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, which for years has made a significant contribution to the greater St. Louis area and the community in which we live and work, “said Mark B. Sutton, Chairman and CEO, Americas, UBS. “We have a longstanding and ongoing commitment to fostering the arts and culture and are proud to partner with this distinguished Orchestra.” |
