SAINT LOUIS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA AND
PULITZER FOUNDATION FOR THE ARTS TO
COLLABRATE IN A SERIES OF PERFORMANCES
David Robertson to Introduce and Conduct New
Series
ST. LOUIS,
November 18, 2004 – The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra and the Pulitzer
Foundation for the Arts jointly announced today a new chamber music series
featuring three concerts for the 2004-2005 season. Concerts are scheduled for
Dec. 5, Feb. 25 at 8:00 pm and April 7, 2005 at 8:00 pm. SLSO Music Director
Designate David Robertson and the musicians will introduce and play contemporary
chamber works in the inspiring venue of the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts
(3716 Washington Blvd.).
The first concert, which
will be held on December 5, 2004 at 4:30 pm, will feature
Olivier Messiaen’s
Quartet for the End of Time
– one of the cornerstones of the 20th century chamber repertory – in
the context of the Pulitzer’s current exhibition,
Exploring Ando's Space: Art
and the Spiritual.
SLSO musicians
performing include: Concertmaster David Halen, violin; Diana Haskell,
clarinet; Melissa Brooks-Rubright, cello; and Peter Henderson,
piano. For
