SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA APPOINTS
THREE ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF MEMBERS
ST. LOUIS, October 22, 2003
– The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra announced
today three new staff members to fill vacant
positions: James Garrone as chief financial
officer and Jeff Trammel as director of
communications join Eddie Silva who was hired as
publications manager at the end of the summer.
Garrone joins the Symphony after
spending the last three years with WELLINX/Drx
Pharmaceuticals as chief financial officer. He
has more than 22 years of experience in the
banking industry, including 15 years with
Mercantile Bancorporation, Inc., where he held a
variety of senior executive positions in
financial services, management, and
administration.
Trammel joins the Symphony after
spending 14 years in the communications
department of the St. Louis Blues Hockey Club.
Most recently he was the director of multimedia
and publications, overseeing the team’s website
and publications. He has also served the team as
the director of communications and assistant
director of public relations. Trammel also spent
two years with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch
as public relations manager.
Silva was most recently with the
Riverfront Times (RFT), where he spent
the past eight years. He has held a variety of
positions with the RFT, including arts editor
and staff writer. From 1988-94 he taught writing
and literature as an adjunct professor at
various colleges and universities. His
commentaries, criticism, and editorials have
been published in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,
Andante.com and Newsday

regional marketplace to our organization,” said
Randy Adams, executive director of the Saint
Louis Symphony Orchestra. “They add strength and
depth to an already exceptional team, and we
look forward to working with them.”
The Saint Louis Symphony
Orchestra has been a source of pride for the St.
Louis region since its founding in 1880. The
Orchestra has earned a reputation as a
first-tier orchestra through the generations of
excellent performances, through its mastery of a
wide-ranging repertoire, and a tradition of
partnering with leading musical artists from
around the world.
In addition to its regular
concert performances at Powell Symphony Hall,
the Orchestra is an integral part of the St.
Louis community with a variety of education and
partnership programs. Through its educational
concerts at Powell and in classrooms all over
the region through the E. Desmond Lee Fine Arts
Education Collaborative, the Symphony encourages
thousands of children to learn about classical
music. Free ensemble and individual performances
in parks, churches, and other venues throughout
the area bring classical music to thousands of
people of all ages. In addition, the pioneering
IN UNISON program partners the Symphony with
urban African-American churches to further
understanding of the connections between gospel,
jazz and classical music.
The Saint Louis Symphony
Orchestra receives generous operating support
from the Regional Arts Commission and the
Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
