DAVID ROBERTSON TO REPLACE JERZY SEMKOW
FOR APRIL 16 & 17 PERFORMANCES OF MAHLER’S
“RESURRECTION” SYMPHONY
  

ST. LOUIS, April 7, 2004 – The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra announced today that conductor David Robertson will replace scheduled conductor Jerzy Semkow for next weekend’s performances of Mahler’s Symphony No. 2.  Semkow is indisposed at the time and unable to join us for the performances. The program and artists scheduled remain unchanged.

Robertson was named music director of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra on Dec. 10, 2003 and is currently music director for the Orchestre National de Lyon in Lyon, France. He will assume the role of Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra music director designate for the 2004-2005 season and will officially become music director for the 2005-2006 season.

He is scheduled to return to St. Louis later this month as a guest conductor on April 24th and 25th, when he will conduct Brahms and Bruckner.
