Getting It Right

The St. Louis Symphony performances of John Adams’ City Noir, David Robertson conducting (February 15 & 16), will be recorded by Nonesuch Records. Nonesuch will be back in the fall to record Adams’ concerto for saxophone–currently a work in progress–and the two works will make a dandy John Adams/David Robertson/St. Louis Symphony CD. The last time all these parties came together for a recording the result was Doctor Atomic Symphony & Guide to Strange Places, a CD that the Times of London ranked the top classical CD of the decade.

John Adams will be in town, and I’m sure there will be moments on stage of two brilliant musical minds coming together and getting it right.

We’re asking the audience to be aware of the recording in progress. No unnecessary noise. Just applause. Load up on Luden’s, the Official Throat Drop of the St. Louis Symphony!
