The orchestra was back in Powell Hall Tuesday morning rehearsing for a run-out concert to Cape Girardeau Wednesday night. Haydn’s “Drum Roll” Symphony and Beethoven’s “Pastoral” Symphony will be played downriver.

But who wants to let summer go? Longtime Symphony percussionist John Kasica sent these photos from his trip to China.

Kasica-timpani“This was the third time I was principal timpanist, clinician and recitalist at the 5th Annual International Music Festival of Zhengzhou China,” Kasica writes. “A two-week festival including orchestral concerts, recitals and master classes with 14 other U.S. symphony musicians as guest artists.”
