Brown Shoe Company Presents St. Louis Symphony Landmarks Concert Series, Youth Orchestra Concerts

ST. LOUIS, August 26, 2014 – Brown Shoe Company, and several of its brands, will sponsor the St. Louis Symphony Landmarks Concert Series this season.

The Landmarks Concert Series Presented by Brown Shoe Company brings the world-famous St. Louis Symphony to some of city’s most-loved landmarks where they perform shorter concerts that people of all ages can enjoy.

The concert series was made possible by a donation to the St. Louis Symphony from the Brown Shoe Company Charitable Trust.

Upcoming concerts include:

September 19 at 12 noon - Old Courthouse - Enjoy a free chamber concert set in the historic and beautiful Old Courthouse featuring Dvorak's String Quintet in E-flat major - Viola Quintet - with Xiaoxiao Qiang and Ann Fink, violins, Kathleen Mattis and Christian Woehr, violas, and Alvin McCall, cello.  This concert is presented by Dr. Scholl’s.

September 23 at 12 noon - Saint Louis Art Museum - An all-Bach concert with Jonathan Chu, violin, Beth Guterman Chu, Principal Viola, and Daniel Lee, Principal Cello. This concert is presented by Naturalizer.

October 15 at 7 p.m. - Central Public Library - Ann Choomack, flute, and Philip Ross, oboe, team up with Jessica Cheng, violin, Morris Jacob, viola, and Anne Fagerburg, cello, to perform Mozart's Oboe Quartet, Mozart's Flute Quartet, and Britten's Oboe Quartet. This concert is presented by LifeStride.

November 7 at 7 p.m. - Jewel Box - Allegra Lilly, harp, leads a soundscape concert that capitalizes on one of St. Louis' most beloved spaces. This concert is presented by Rykä.

Brown Shoe is also pleased to present two St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra concerts during the 2014-2015 season:

November 14 at 8 p.m. - Youth Orchestra at Powell Hall - Music Director Steven Jarvi leads the Youth Orchestra in Elgar's Enigma Variations.  This concert is presented by Famous Footwear.

March 22 at 3 p.m. - Youth Orchestra at Powell Hall – Program TBD. This program is presented by Famous Footwear.

All Landmark Series concerts are free and open to the public; tickets and reservations are not required.  Tickets for the Youth Orchestra concerts are free with a $1 processing fee and may be reserved by calling 314-534-1700 or at stlsymphony.org
