David Robertson conducts A Night of Symphonic Hip Hop

One night only at Powell Hall, Friday, February 3 at 7:30pm

Presented by Vatterott College The ex'Treme Institute by Nelly

(ST. LOUIS) - Grammy Award-winning rapper, singer, songwriter Nelly and the St. Louis Symphony will perform a one-night-only concert at Powell Hall on Friday, February 3, 7:30pm. STL Symphony Music Director, David Robertson, conducts this unique musical event, featuring original symphonic twists on his hits including “Hot in Herre,” “Just a Dream” and “Country Grammar.”

Beginning his musical career in St. Louis with the hip-hop group St. Lunatics, Nelly shot to stardom with the release of his debut album, Country Grammar, in 2000. Since that time he has released such chart-topping songs as “Hot in Herre,” “Dilemma” and other pop-hip-hop hits. In 2013, the St. Louis native released his seventh full-length album, M.O., featuring guest appearances by Nicki Minaj and Pharrell.

Nelly has toured nationally and internationally throughout much of 2016, and is at work on a new album. Nelly has received two Grammy Awards and is ranked as the fourth best-selling rap artist of all time by the Recording Industry of America and the number three Top Artist of the Decade by Billboard. Earlier this year Country Grammar was certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), selling over 10 million records world-wide.

As a proud St. Louis native, one of the ways Nelly gives back to his city is through his school, ex’Treme Institute. Nelly partnered with Vatterott College to create ex’Treme Institute, a college tailored to educating those interested in the music industry. He is the only artist to have his own accredited college, the presenting sponsor for this concert. Nelly’s star is on the Loop’s Walk of Fame and he is a loyal fan of Cardinal baseball.

Tickets will be on-sale at 10am today (prices range from $45 to $150) and may be purchased at or by calling 314-534-1700.

VIP Packages are available and include a Meet and Greet with Nelly, priority seating, parking pass and drink vouchers. Limited packages are available and must be purchased by calling the box office at 314-534-1700.
