Picture the Music

Where will the music lead your students’ imaginations? Picture the Music invites students grades K-6 to discover orchestral music and respond with paintings and drawings that express creative thought and emotion. This season, students will explore Waltz from Khachaturian's Masquerade Suite


How to Participate 

Download the Teacher's Guide (coming soon). In school, explore the music, create artwork with your students, and then submit the artwork before the deadline. Artwork must be postmarked by January 15, 2020.

Congratulations to our 2019 Picture the Music Winners!

This season, 70 schools and more than 12,400 students participated in the free competition. 430 submissions were reviewed, and from this group 100 finalists representing 43 schools were selected. Finalists were honored at a special awards ceremony at Powell Hall on February 25, and their works are featured in a traveling exhibition.
