Aaron Zoll

Percussion

Clayton High School

Aaron Zoll is 17 years old and a sophomore at Clayton High School. He has participated in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra since he was a freshman, but he has played percussion for six years under the instruction Kim Shelley.

Aaron has studied music, however, since the age of five. He began his musical studies by playing piano and transitioned to percussion in 6th grade. He has studied with Erin Elstner for five years at the Community Music School of Webster University (CMS).

Aaron performed with the All- Suburban band from 7th grade through 10th grade, and participated in the All-State band as a freshman and a sophomore. He also participates with the CMS Percussion Ensemble. Additionally, he has proceeded to State-Level numerous times to achieve an honorable “One” ratings for his solos and ensembles. During his sophomore year, he placed 2nd at the MMPAT marimba competition. When not practicing, which for Aaron is often rare, he enjoys studying math, sleeping, and spending time with his friends.

He is very thankful for his supportive family and friends, all of whom helped him reach this level of musical progress. He is also extraordinarily grateful that the SLSYO accepted him into their Orchestra. Aaron looks forward to a great year and hopefully, more to come.
