Alec Hines

Ladue Horton-Watkins High School

Aleczander Hines is a 15 year-old sophomore at Ladue Horton Watkins High School. Under the direction of Michael Faris, Aleczander has studied percussion with the Ladue Percussion Program since the 6th grade.

Before becoming a percussionist, Aleczander was a drum set player. At the age of eight he had the opportunity to play drum set for the legendary Terry Bozzio. It was on that magical night that his love for music began. Since then he has had the opportunity to work with freelance drum set player Kevin Gianino, the Director of Percussion at UMSL Matt Henry, jazz vibraphonist Peter Schlamb, and many more. All of  his teachers have opened his eyes to the many possibilities of music. He proudly plays in the Ladue High School Symphonic Band, Symphonic Orchestra, Jazz Band, Pit Orchestra for Musicals, Pep Band, and the Percussion Ensemble.

For Aleczander, music is life and life is music. He spends all of his free time pursuing music, listening to it or playing it. He loves what he does and is looking forward to his second year playing with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.
