Co-Principal Marquette High School

Alex Cho is currently a sophomore at Marquette High School. He has been studying the cello for seven years. Alex began studying the cello with Yun-Yang Lin when he lived in Connecticut. Since moving to St. Louis in 2012, he has been learning from Dr. Catherine Lehr. He has been participating in several Orchestras over the past few years such as the Young People’s Concert Orchestra (2012-2014), the Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra (2014-2016), and the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra (2015-Present). Alex has served as the Principal Cellist of the Young People’s Symphony Orchestra, and last year, he was the Assistant Principal Cellist of the SLSYO. This year he will be serving as the Co-Principal Cellist of the SLSYO. Alex has also been participating in the Preparatory Program at Webster University Community Music School(Director, Ms. Vera Parkins) since 2014. During the past year, he won the Belleville Symphony Concerto competition and earned honorable mentions at the UMSL Junior Division Competition and MTNA Junior String division Competition. Alex deeply appreciates his teachers and many wonderful people such as friends and family who have helped him reach so many achievements.

In his spare time, he attends swim practice, plays basketball, and hangs out with his friends.
