Anna Groesch

Anna Groesch

Cello

Co-Principal Cor Jesu Academy

Anna Groesch, a 17-year-old senior at Cor Jesu Academy, picked up the cello when she was four years old. She began her Suzuki training with Mary Lou Gotman at the Community Music School (CMS) of Webster University. Through CMS she has sat as principal cellist in the String Ensemble, String Orchestra, Young People’s Concert Orchestra, and Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra. In addition, Anna has studied chamber music and music theory in the CMS Preparatory Program for three years. During her junior year, Anna was the cellist of the Orpheus Piano Quartet, which was sponsored by the Young Artists Program of the Chamber Music Society of St. Louis. Her quartet advanced to the quarter-final round of the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition in the spring of 2017. She has participated in the Missouri All-State Orchestra for two years. Anna attended the Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory in Steamboat Springs, CO in 2014 and 2016, and the Arianna Chamber Music Festival at UMSL in 2015 and 2016. She currently studies with Catherine Lehr Ramos, former Assistant Principal of the SLSO, and James Czyzewski, current cellist of the SLSO.

When she is not playing cello, Anna enjoys exploring new areas of music. She began playing trumpet in sixth grade, participating in her school’s concert and jazz bands. She also enjoys playing the ukulele and busking with her friends and family. Outside of music, Anna spends her time reading, laughing, and taking pictures of her cat.
