Brody Van Wave

Fort Zumwalt North High School

Brody Van Wave, age 16, is a junior at Fort Zumwalt North High School. He is returning to the Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra as a full-time musician this year after serving as an alternate last year. This is Brody’s sixth year playing the cello. Throughout this time, he has had the privilege of participating in several musical ensembles including the 2023 Missouri All- State Orchestra, the St. Louis Metro District 8 High School Orchestra, and the St. Charles County Youth Orchestra. He also enjoyed playing chamber music within the Community Music School of Webster University’s Preparatory Program and throughout the Arianna String Quartet’s Chamber Music Festival.

At his high school, Brody takes part in all the musical opportunities that he can. In the spring of 2023, he was honored to receive the National School Orchestra Award. Aside from music, Brody trains and competes as a member of the boys varsity swim, cross country, and track teams. He also has a passion for mathematics and science and is looking forward to the challenging courses he has enrolled in for the upcoming school year.

Brody currently studies with Dr. Catherine Lehr-Ramos and he is incredibly thankful for the instruction and encouragement that she has provided. He is also grateful for the support and guidance he has received from Jenina Kenessey, Susan Hampton, and his parents.
