Christopher Ye is 15 years old and a sophomore at Ladue Horton Watkins High School. He started playing piano at age 4, now studying piano with Laura Schindler. He is honored to serve as the keyboardist in his first season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.

In 2017, Christopher won 1st and 2nd place in his age group for the Mediterranean and Eastern European categories, respectively, of the Great Composers Competition Series. In 2016, Christopher was a winner of the First Annual MBU Concerto Competition, performing the first movement of Saint-Saëns Piano Concerto No. 2 with the combined orchestras of Missouri Baptist University and Saint Charles Community College. He received third place in Division 2 of the SIUE piano competition and was the First Place Trophy Winner for solo piano in the Missouri Music Teachers Association State Competition.

During the past few summers, Christopher has performed solos, played chamber music, and participated in numerous master classes at the Interlochen Piano Institute in 2017 and the Indiana University Piano Academy in 2016 on partial scholarship. He has also auditioned into St. Louis Area Music Teachers Association master classes. At school, Christopher is the pianist for the Ladue Strolling Strings, has accompanied the Symphonic Orchestra, and is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society.

Besides piano, Christopher began violin in the fourth grade and played in the school orchestra. He also sings tenor with the local Chinese youth choir. In his free time, he enjoys arranging music, teaching himself uncommon instruments (including accordion, ocarina, and erhu), and exploring the world of science.

Christopher is grateful to his past piano teacher Ms. Pat Nemish, his present piano teacher Mrs. Laura Schindler, and his family for their endless and continued support of his musical endeavors.
