Claire Lin

Claire Lin

Cello

Kirkwood High School

Claire Lin is excited to be a returning member of the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.  A 16 year-old senior at Kirkwood High School, Claire began playing cello at age eight and studies under Marian Drake. Other favorite cello experiences include the 2016 and 2017 Missouri All State Orchestras, Principal in Young People’s Concert Orchestra, and Kirkwood Symphonic Orchestra’s performance at Carnegie Hall.

Growing up, Claire spent much of her free time singing and dancing. She sang at Lincoln Center, performed in productions at The MUNY, and danced on the Disneyland stage. She was also privileged to sing in the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra’s performance of Alban Berg’s opera Wozzeck under the direction of David Robertson.

Claire swims competitively year-round, qualifying for Speedo Sectionals, USA Swimming Futures Championships, and Missouri State High School Championships.

Out of the pool or without a bow, Claire spends her time as an editor of the Kirkwood Pioneer Yearbook. She also enjoys drawing and photography. Claire thanks her family for their support and encouragement in pursuing her many passions, and Marian Drake for continuously challenging her to become a well-rounded artist and individual.
