Daniel Diringer

Daniel Diringer

Cello

Ladue High School

Daniel Diringer is in the 9th grade at Ladue High School. He doesn’t recall why he chose the cello at age 3, but he does have a vague memory of practicing the Twinkle Variations in his fireman costume and busking in downtown Annapolis to encourage business at his cousin’s and his lemonade stand at age 4. (He earned $28.) He currently studies with Catherine Lehr. This is his third year in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. He has participated in the Community Music School Preparatory Program, all levels of CMS orchestras, the All-Suburban Middle School Honors Orchestra (principal cellist), the Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory, and the Arianna Chamber Music Festival. He has received artistic merit scholarships from CMS for the past 5 years. Last year, he started teaching his first cello student, which renewed his appreciation for his first teacher, Mary Lou Gotman. Aside from music, his other passion is baseball—he is a Yankees fan and plays catcher and 3rd base for the Rawlings Tigers.
