Elizabeth Verrill

Elizabeth Verrill

Bassoon

Kirkwood High School

Bassoonist Elizabeth Verrill is 17 years old and a senior at Kirkwood High School. She began playing bassoon six years ago when offered the opportunity to switch from her beginning instrument, the flute. Years later she hastily revisited her once abandoned musicianship as a flutist in order to participate in her school marching band. Today she is a flute Section Leader and Band President. In her freshman year, she began her orchestral bassoon career with the Community Music School of Webster University as principal bassoonist for the Young People's Concert Orchestra. Over the next two years, she participated in the the Young People's Symphonic Orchestra, also at CMS. However, her favorite musical experience was in 2016 when she was given the opportunity to perform in Carnegie Hall with Kirkwood High School. This year, she is excited and honored to begin her first season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.
