Grace Crockett

Violin

Ladue Horton Watkins High School

Grace Crockett, a 16-year old senior at Ladue High School, is thrilled to be participating in her third season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. After attending kinderconcerts as a child, she began her violin studies at the age of four and currently studies with SLSO first violinist Angie Smart.

In addition to the SLSYO, she has performed in similar ensembles around the country. Most recently she was selected to perform in the National Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall where she played as 5th chair first violin and was invited from that group to perform at the Sydney Opera House. She played in the Missouri All State Orchestra in 2016 and again in 2017 and has participated in the Community Music School orchestras including being the assistant principal of the second violins in YPSO. She also learned from world class musicians and teachers at Innsbrook Institute in 2015 and 2016 where she met her former teacher Helen Kim.

She is grateful to her supportive family and her violin instructors for their support and motivation and to God for giving her a passion and gift for music. Whether it’s playing at her church, various ensembles, or accepting a dare to be a street performer, she loves the joy, challenge, and community of creating great music.
