Greta Hodes

Providence Classical Christian Academy

Greta Hodes is in her third year as harpist with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. She has been a pianist since age 5 and an Irish musician since age 7. At 9, she moved from the penny whistle to the Celtic harp, studying with former SLSYO harpist Eileen Gannon. In 2019, Greta placed third in the world among Celtic harpists in her age group at the Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann in Drogheda, Ireland. That fall, she began studying classical harp in the studio of Megan Stout, and now studies with Joan Holland of the University of Michigan.

In addition to the SLSYO, Greta has played harp in the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra and the St. Louis Civic Orchestra. Meanwhile, she has continued studying piano, in recent years in the studio of Donna Vince of Webster University. She attended the Indiana University Summer Piano Academy and the Summer Harp Academy in 2022, and played Principal Harp in the World Youth Symphony Orchestra at Interlochen Arts Camp in the summer of 2023.

Greta is in her senior year of high school at Providence Classical Christian Academy in St. Louis County. She hopes to continue her study of music after graduation. Greta is grateful to her mentors, Eileen Gannon, Donna Vince, Megan Stout, and Joan Holland, for their dedicated and nurturing support for her musical education.
