Portrait of Hannah Moon

Youth Orchestra

Hannah Moon

Clayton High School

Hannah Moon is sixteen years old and a rising senior at Clayton High School. After previously playing the piano, Hannah was inspired by a St. Louis Symphony Orchestra performance to pick up a string instrument – aspiring to perform at Powell Hall someday. After 3 seasons with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra, she will miss the hall as it undergoes renovation; but she is thrilled to perform at the Touhill Arts Center.

In the third grade, Hannah chose to play viola, fostering a love for the instrument through Wydown Middle School’s Chamber Ensemble. Throughout her high school career, she was a Missouri All-State violist and general director of the STL Youth Ambassadors Orchestra. Alongside the arts, Hannah holds an equal passion for science. Outside of music, she enjoys collaborating in FIRST robotics and pursuing science-history research.

Hannah would like to thank her current teacher, Professor Joanna Mendoza, for her unwavering support and guidance throughout her musical journey. She also extends her gratitude to former teacher Eliana Haig and conductors Dr. Jan Davis, Mr. Daniel Henderson, and Mrs. Carolyn Day. She looks forward to this upcoming season.
