Kirkwood High School

Jack lives in Kirkwood Missouri and is a Junior at Kirkwood High School. He began playing viola at age 11 in the 6th grade under the direction of Fariga Drayton at Nipher Middle School.

Since his freshman year, Jack has been performing as a member of the Kirkwood High School Symphonic Orchestra. The orchestra has been to both Dallas and Chicago for the Heritage Music Festival, the MMEA conference, and New York City to play at Carnegie Hall in March 2017.

In the past, Jack has received instruction from teachers such as Audrey Alessi, Clifton Gilliland, and Eva Robinson. In the spring of 2016 however, he switched to study under the direction of Anna Lackschewitz.

He was principle viola in Webster’s Young Peoples Concert Orchestra 2015-2016, Co-principle of The Young Peoples Symphonic Orchestra 2016-2017, and has been a part of the Community Music School’s Preparatory Program directed by Vera Parkin. This past summer, Jack was accepted at The Innsbrook Institute and Music Festival under scholarship. 

In addition to music Jack is very involved academically. He enjoys clubs such as Philosophy club, Coalition, and student politics. He is also in his second year as a writer for the school’s newspaper.Jack is a dedicated musician and is looking forward to learning and growing with the SLSYO.
