Jason Wan

Violin

Parkway West High School

Jason Wan is 16 years old and a junior at Parkway West High School. He began playing the violin around the age of 5 and then picked up piano a few years later. He began taking lessons under Irena Goren-Scheer for 6 years. He would like to thank her and his current teacher, Manuela Kaymakanova, for helping him develop as a musician. This is Jason’s first season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.

In the past, Jason has also participated in both the Young People’s Concert Orchestra and Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra at the Community Music School of Webster University. He is also a past member of the Webster University Prep Program and Missouri All-State Orchestra. In addition to playing the violin, Jason also enjoys building and speedsolving Rubik’s cubes. He is an avid member of the Parkway West Scholar Bowl and Science Bowl teams and enjoys representing his school in the local chess league. Jason would like to give his unending thanks to his friends, family and teachers for supporting him on his musical endeavors.
