John Burroughs School

Josephine Moten is a senior at John Burroughs School. This will be her third and final year in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. She has been playing the violin for thirteen years.

Josephine has played in two orchestras at the Community Music School of Webster University. She has been a recipient of numerous merit scholarships including the Fisher Memorial Scholarhsip, Illyashov Youth Scholarship, Yakko & Richard Meyers and Ella A. Heimburger Scholarship, G.A. Jr. and Kathryn M. Buder Charitable Foundation Scholarship, and ESCO Technologies Foundation Scholarship. Josephine was co-concertmaster of the John Burroughs School Junior Orchestra and First Violin in Missouri All-State Orchestra. Josephine earned an honor rating in the String Quartet and Solo performance at the Missouri State High School Activities Association and she has participated in the St. Louis Classical All-Stars. Josephine is concertmaster for the John Burroughs School Senior Orchestra.

Besides playing the violin, Josephine likes to read, travel, and hang out with her family. She longs to get a dog soon before she leaves for college.

As a youngster, Josephine dreamed of becoming a member to the SLSYO. She is thankful to God for making her dream a reality. Josephine is also grateful to her parents, brother, Mac Jr., Susan McDonald, Joo Kim, and others for their love and support throughout the years.
