Katie He is a sophomore at Clayton High School and has been studying violin since the age of six with Mr. Qian and then Amy Appold in Columbia, Missouri.  After moving to St. Louis in 2013, she began lessons with Angie Smart, a violinist in the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.

This will be Katie’s first year in the St Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. Before, she has played in the Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra as the co-concertmaster in 2016-2017 and is in the preparatory program at Community Music School of Webster University.  Katie has enjoyed going to the Innsbrook Institute during the summers of 2016 and 2017.

In school, Katie is in Globe--the school newspaper-- the tennis team, the swim team, and is part of the Clayton Symphonic Orchestra. In her free time, she likes to play tennis, listen to music, and spend time with her family and friends.

Katie gives great thanks to those who have been part of her musical journey including her family and her music teachers. She is extremely grateful to all her friends who have supported her in her musical endeavors.
