Madison Hassler

Double Bass

Oakville High School

Madison Hassler is a junior at Oakville Senior High School. This is her first year playing in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. She started her journey in orchestra on the violin when she was in third grade. In eighth grade she picked up the double bass and has stayed with it ever since. During eighth grade, she also started playing bass in her school’s jazz band, however she quickly realized that orchestra was her passion.

Madison accompanied her school’s Coral at the 2017 Missouri Music Educators’ Conference, under the direction of Michael Wegener and she has had the opportunity to perform with the All Suburban Orchestra and at the State Solo and Ensemble Festival. She is grateful to her school orchestra teachers and her mentor Chris Livesay who she studied under for the last two years. She currently studies under Tim Weddle.

In Madison’s spare time, she enjoys hanging out with friends, working out, and has a passion for animals.  She has devoted many hours to volunteering at the Humane Society of Missouri.  She is also involved in many school activities including Student Council, HOSA, Key Club, and is a member of the National Honor Society, and National Spanish Honor Society.  She spent several weeks this summer in Costa Rica with her Spanish teacher immersing herself in the Spanish language and culture.

She is looking forward to performing with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra and thanks them for giving her this opportunity.
