Matthew Kim

Lindbergh High School

Matthew Kim is a senior at Lindbergh High School and concurrently attends STLCC-Meramec as a freshman. This is his second year with the Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. He has been a clarinetist in the Lindbergh Schools District since sixth grade. Additionally, he played tenor saxophone for the LHS Jazz Ensemble during the 2022-23 school year

In the past three years, Matthew has participated in various ensembles, and his favorites include the following: All-State Band, Young People’s Symphony Orchestra (Community Music School of Webster University), CMS Preparatory Program, and the University of Missouri-Columbia’s All-Juniors Honor Band. Out of the few ensembles at school, he deeply favors the pit orchestra. During his underclassmen years, Matthew has performed as a clarinetist in Lindbergh’s pit orchestra. In the past year, the role of student director was passed down to him, providing a new experience for him. Furthermore, Matthew has started composing music in the fall semester of his junior year. Outside of music, he enjoys walking around aimlessly on Grant’s Trail, participating in multiple school clubs, and interacting with his friends.

Matthew would like to thank Chelsea Silvermintz and Lisa Middlekauff for his growth as a performer. Additionally, he would like to thank Tim Linsenbardt and Alec Patton for his improvement as a composer.
