Edwardsville High School

Molly Farrar is a 16 year-old junior at Edwardsville High School (EHS) in Edwardsville, Illinois and has been playing the cello for 10 years. She began her studies with Glenda Piek in Edwardsville and then with Mary Lou Gotman at the Community Music School (CMS) of Webster University for six years. There, she participated in String Ensemble, String Orchestra, Young People’s Concert Orchestra, and Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra. Molly currently studies with Catherine Lehr Ramos. This is her first year in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. Molly also enjoys volunteering with her chamber group of EHS students at area churches and events when she is not traveling to St. Louis. Over the past two summers, she has also attended Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory in Steamboat Springs, Colorado where she enjoys hiking and practicing her cello.

Molly also excels at student journalism, winning a sectional and state title with her journalism team from EHS and writing for the school paper. Molly also leads the yearbook staff as co-editor-in-chief to coordinate and design The Tiger, the EHS yearbook. In her free time, Molly likes to hang out with her friends and twin sister, to read, and to play field hockey for AIM field hockey club.
