Nayeon Ryu

Cello

Parkway West High School

Nayeon, a 15-year-old sophomore at Parkway West High School, is starting her first season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. She started playing the cello under Ken Kulosa when she was 9, but had never played in an orchestra until the last 6 weeks of middle school when she decided to join the school orchestra. Nayeon also participated in the 2017 Missouri All-State Orchestra.

Aside from cello, Nayeon is on her school’s Poms dance team and takes outside dance classes at various studios from time to time. She is also on the girls' track & field team and the debate team amongst other smaller clubs.

Nayeon serves a lot of her free time volunteering for her school and other organizations. She also enjoys singing as she was in choir before deciding to join orchestra. She likes to play the guitar, piano, and the ukulele for fun, as well as photography, taking pictures for her school's yearbook.
