Ladue Horton Watkins High School

Sarah Liao is a senior at Ladue Horton Watkins High School and honored to be in her third season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Having played the flute for 7 years, Sarah Liao has performed with various orchestras and bands. She has participated in the SLSMEA All Suburban Honor Band for 5 years, Webster’s Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra at the Community Music School of Webster University, the 2022 Missouri All-State Band, the 2023 Missouri All-State Orchestra, and the Ladue Symphonic Band. She also enjoys tutoring other young flute lovers in her area.

When she isn’t playing the flute, Sarah enjoys reading, debating, dancing, running, and binging TV shows.

Sarah is extremely thankful to those who’ve helped her along her musical journey. She would like to thank Katie Solomon for introducing her to the flute world and her current band teachers Aaron Lehde and Jason Harris for continuing her love of music. She is especially grateful for her amazing flute teacher Jennifer Nitchman, who continues to inspire her every day. Lastly, Sarah would like to thank her parents, sister, and friends for giving their undying support through her musical journey.
