Youth Orchestra

Taochi Margaret Leung

Assistant Principal
Ladue Horton Watkins High School

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Taochi is 16 years old and a junior at Ladue Horton Watkins. She began playing cello at the age of five under the instruction of Ms. Mary Lou Gotman, and she has been studying with Dr. Jun Seo since 2018.  Taochi has been a part of the Community Music School of Webster University Orchestra program for seven years, from String Ensemble to Young People Symphonic Orchestra.

In addition to playing in CMS orchestras, Taochi enjoys performing with various chamber groups at school. She is also a member of her school’s “Strolling Strings” – a student orchestral club that provides music performances to the community. Other than participating in school’s services, Taochi also works with other young musicians at church events.

In her free time, Taochi enjoys camping, hiking, drawing, worldbuilding, and spending time with family.

Taochi is thankful for the support of her family and would especially like to thank Dr. Jun Seo, Ms. Mary Lou Gotman, Mr. Patrick Jackson, and Ms. Twinda Murry for their instructions and encouragement.  The 2023/24 season will be Taochi’s second year as a cellist in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra and she is very excited and grateful for this opportunity to be part of this prestigious group of young musicians.
