Tina Wang

Marquette High School

Tina Wang is 17 and a senior at Marquette High School. This is her third season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Music has accompanied Tina her whole life. She began playing piano at age 5 and flute at age 11. Since then, she has been active in regional bands. She was accepted into the St. Louis All Suburban band as a flute player from grades 7-11 and has been in the Missouri All State Band twice, where she was placed for first chair once. She has performed as a soloist under her school band many times as well.

In addition to music, Tina also enjoys computer science and art. In her free time, she codes up projects and draws. She gains inspiration from everyday life.

Tina is extremely thankful for her current and former instructors. These include her middle school band instructors Robert Wilhite and Jason Bergman, her high school band instructors Christian Pierce and Kaitlyn Knost, her former flute instructor Jennifer Adams, and her current flute instructor Jennifer Nitchman. She would also like to thank all the St. Louis Symphonic Orchestra musicians for the inspiration they’ve provided to her and the SLSYO team for creating this program. Lastly, she would like to thank her family and friends for supporting her continuously through her musical journey.
