COVID-19 Safety Protocols 

The SLSO is reopening for concerts in Powell Hall with reduced audience capacity and abundant safety precautions in place. We continue to collaborate with a team of medical experts on our safety protocols and are committed to providing you with a safe and welcoming environment to experience the power of music with your SLSO.

What to Expect

  • Audience capacity will be limited to 300 patrons.
  • Concerts will last 60-75 minutes with no intermission.
  • Concession services will not be offered at this time, and outside food and beverage are not permitted.
  • Powell Hall will be fully sanitized prior to each performance, and detailed sanitization of high-touch surfaces will continue throughout the duration of each performance.
  • Floor markings will be in place anywhere lines may form to help direct you through the Hall.
  • Sanitization stations with hand sanitizer and wipes will be available throughout the Hall.
  • Masks covering nose and mouth are required for all. 

Patron Safety

  • Masks are required for all patrons at all times while at Powell Hall and must be worn over the nose and mouth. If you do not have a mask, we will provide one for you.
  • Please keep six feet apart from other parties.
  • Practice good hand hygiene, frequently washing or sanitizing hands.
  • Do not attend if you or a member of your family is feeling unwell, exhibits symptoms of COVID-19, or has been in close proximity to a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19.


  • Tickets for all events must be purchased in advance.
  • Doors open 30 minutes prior to the concert start time. There will not be pre-concert lectures at this time.
  • Tickets may be scanned via the SLSO App or by printing your e-ticket at home.

  • Use the Grand Blvd entrance that corresponds with the seating area listed on your ticket.
    • Red - Orchestra Right/Center
    • Yellow - Orchestra Left/Center
    • Blue - Dress Circle, Grand Circle, Terrace Circle


  • Seating is allocated in pairs of two.
  • A minimum distance of six feet is provided between each household, with clear paths to enter and exit each row.
  • Assigned seats are designated with gold sashes for easy wayfinding, and ushers are available for assistance.
  • Please sit only in your assigned seat to ensure proper distancing between parties.

Additional Information

  • Donors with valet-service benefits may choose to self-park in designated valet areas.
  • Donor hospitality in the Whitaker Room will not be available.
  • Elevator occupancy is limited to one party at a time.
  • Restroom capacities will be closely monitored by SLSO staff.
  • Assisted listening devices will be available, however, we encourage patrons to bring their own headphones.
  • Program notes will be available through the SLSO App. Limited print copies will be available in the Hall.
  • Wind and Brass musicians will lower their masks only while actively playing.
  • There will be time reserved between each event to allow for six complete fresh air purges and complete sanitization of the hall. HVAC air filters have been upgraded to maximum efficiency, rated MERV-13. Fresh air circulation will continue during the duration of each performance via two separate air handlers: one for the stage, and another for the patron seating area.
