Legacy Giving: Gift Annuities

A Gift Annuity is a contractual arrangement between a donor and the SLSO whereby the orchestra agrees to make fixed periodic payments to one or two individuals (annuitants) in exchange for money or assets transferred to the Saint Louis Symphony Endowment Trust. Amount would be based on age.

Benefits:

  • You receive a substantial charitable tax deduction in the year you make the gift.
  • A portion of your annual income is also usually tax free.
  • After your death, the Saint Louis Symphony Endowment Trust receives the remainder of your original gift for the benefit of the SLSO.

A Deferred Gift Annuity allows you to defer annuity payments until a later time, if you do not need the immediate income.

Benefits:

  • You receive a larger up-front deduction and a higher rate of return.
  • Deferring annuity payments is an effective way for young donors to provide for their retirement and the SLSO’s future.
