Our New Public Face
Take a stroll by the Boutique in Powell Hall and check out the new public face of the SVA. Thanks to the Communications Committee and the creative, capable staff at Powell Hall, we now have a new colorful poster for the bulletin board located near the Boutique. Patrons of the Boutique also now receive a beautiful red bookmark highlighting key 2011-2012 SVA accomplishments with every purchase.
I Resolve to Do M-O-R-E
You can be part of the M-O-R-E Volunteer program for the 2012-2013 season. Contribute 50 or more hours and you’ll receive a bright red tag to add to your volunteer name tag as a special acknowledgement of your service. Report your hours when convenient to the appropriate committee chair or vice chair…monthly, quarterly, annually or whenever it makes sense for you.
Attention All SVA Members
Your printed copy of the SVA Membership Directory is now available. If you weren’t able to pick yours up at Winter Heat on January 3, please choose from one of these options to pick up your copy soon:
- Make an appointment with Amee to stop by the SVA office at Centene.
- Contact the committee chair of your choice to bring your directory to an upcoming committee meeting.
- Planning to attend a concert at Powell Hall? Contact Amee by Thursday of that week and your directory will be waiting for you at the Boutique on the weekend.
Online Anytime
In addition to a copy of our printed SVA Membership Directory, each member may now access this informative resource online. Visit the Membership section of our webpage, click on “2012-2013 Membership Directory” and you will be asked for a password (contact a member of the SVA Board or Amee Colvin for assistance).
The directory will be updated with new members and corrections each month. Please be sure to notify Amee of any changes for your listing.
BOARD NEWS
We’re on a Mission!
The mission of the STL Symphony is to enrich people’s lives through the power of music. The SVA will support this mission by focusing on three key goals through 2013:
- Increase SVA membership to 500 with 50% participation rate (FY12 result = 356 members with 52% participation)
- Increase SVA fundraising profits to exceed $250,000 (FY12 result = $219,253)
- Increase direct contacts of SVA education projects and tours to 25,500 community members (FY12 result = 25,662 direct contacts)
FUNDRAISING
We’ve Got a Party for You!
As we start the fifth year, Parties of Note (PON) is now the second largest SVA fundraiser supporting the STL Symphony. Over $62,000 was raised in the 2011-2012 season. Once again, the PON committee will be offering lots of fabulous parties for you to choose from at Pick a Party! on Sunday, April 21 at Plaza Frontenac. Many party contracts have already been received and the PON committee is finalizing details for several more before the contract deadline of February 1.
Select parties that will be offered may require additional funding or underwriting. In almost all cases, the party host takes care of expenses; however, there are a few special situations where the committee must seek additional funding to make the party a success. For example, two parties being planned (Brian Owens and Erin Bode musical event; Wine Country Gardens party in Missouri Wine Country) will most likely need underwriting.
If you can help defray the cost of a party, please consider an underwriting gift and your contribution will be acknowledged in the PON catalog (checks may be mailed to Amee Colvin at the SVA office).
Questions? Contact Linda Lee or Anne von der Heydt.

St. Louis, MO 63103
Office Hours: 9:00am–5:00pm
SVA committee meetings can be scheduled at the SVA office with Director of Volunteer Activities, Amee Colvin.
