Picture the Music

Where will the music lead your students’ imaginations? Picture the Music invites students in grades K-6 to discover an orchestral work and respond with paintings or drawings that express creative thought and emotion. This season, students explore the 4th movement of Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5.

How to Participate

Whether your back to school is in-person, virtual, or blended, give your students the opportunity to experience Picture the Music. Participation in this cross-curricular program is free.

Wherever your classes are being held, explore the music and create artwork with your students. Then, submit student entries before the deadline. NEW this year, only the top 100 pieces of artwork must be submitted physically, all other artwork will be submitted online.
