Norah Murphy

Ladue Horton Watkins High School

Thanks to many teachers, family members, friends, and programs around St. Louis, Norah’s music journey has been exciting and successful! Norah’s love for music began with her first guitar lesson at age nine. Norah is super excited for her second season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. She is attending Ladue Horton Watkins High School as a sophomore this year.

Norah has participated in many programs, bands, orchestras, and ensembles throughout her time as a percussionist. These include the Young People Symphonic Orchestra, the Middle School All Suburban Band, and the High School All Suburban Band. She has loved being a part of the Community Music School Summer Mood Percussion Ensemble for the last couple summers and has been to several camps like CMS Band Camp, and the Illinois Summer Youth Music Pre-College Percussion Summer Camp. She also enjoys playing in the percussion section of the Symphonic Band at Ladue.

Outside of percussion, Norah enjoys playing many other instruments. She has played the guitar for over six years and likes to play the piano and sing. She has recently begun seriously writing her own music, and she has plans to record and release some of her work.

Norah is thankful for her family, friends, and teachers that have helped her throughout her percussion journey. She thanks her parents for providing her with every possible opportunity to help her grow as a musician and she thanks Mr. Faris, Ms. Elstner, and many other band directors for teaching her everything she needs to know, and for pushing her to do her best.
