Sophia Heaton

Assistant Concertmaster
Home Educated

Sophia Heaton, age 17, is a high school senior from Fulton, Missouri. She is home educated and also a student at Memoria Academy, an online classical Christian school. She studies violin with Angie Smart, and is very grateful for all her teaching, mentorship, advice, and encouragement.

This is Sophia’s fifth season as a violinist with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. In addition to the SLSYO, she plays in the Preparatory Program of the Community Music School of Webster University. This past summer, she thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Arianna Chamber Music Festival!

Some musical highlights: Sophia won the 20/21 SLSYO Showpiece Competition and will never forget the honor of having her solo performance recorded in Powell Hall. She has also won awards from several local competitions, most recently, the Rising Talents Concerto Competition (Town and Country Symphony Orchestra), and the Marie Stillwell Concerto Competition (Alton Symphony Orchestra).

Sophia has been blessed by many music teachers and mentors. She would especially like to thank Angie Smart, Vera Parkin, Patrick Jackson, and the members of the Arianna String Quartet. Sophia is thankful to God, and thankful for her parents and grandparents who bless her in so many ways!
